Using Photoshop Tool Presets

Photoshop Tool Presets is real time saving for me. It’s really useful with photoshop tool that you regularly use with specific setting. For example I usually use lasso tool Photoshop Lasso Tool to make quick selection in tiny detailed area. I will set feather to 0px if it’s really small area and feather 1px or more in the larger area. I will save both setting as my preset therefore I will not have redefine it every time I use.

To create custom tool preset in simple 3 steps:

1. Choose a tool (some tool may not allow for preset) and Set the tool setting in option bar as you want.

2. Click the Tool Preset picker button in the Options bar and Click Create New Tool Preset Button

3. Name the preset and click OK. Your new preset is now saved and ready for reuse.

To use your tool preset just select it from tool presets pop-up.

There are many ways to select Photoshop Tool Presets:

  • Click the Tool Preset picker button and select a preset from the picker pop-up menu.
  • Select a preset in the Tool Presets palette.
  • Select a preset in the Preset Manager. Choose Tools from the pop-up menu and select your preset.

You can also create new to preset by using Tool palette. By choosing Window » Tool Presets to bring up the Tool Presets palette and select Create new Tool Presets icon at the bottom right of the palette.
The Tool Presets palette offers an additional handy icon at the bottom of the palette.The Trash icon: This icon lets you delete a preset quickly. Select the preset and click the trash icon or simply drag the preset to the trash.

You can also create a new preset from the Preset Manager, which is accessible from the Tool Preset picker pop-up menu or by choosing Edit » Preset Manager. But it’s let you manage you all Presets easily. You can save your presets and load it for later use or to use in other machine.
