Photoshop: Create Night Vision Effects

Another free PhotoShop plug-in from VanDerLee let you easily create effect like the one night-vision goggles do.

The NightVision plug-in other than make any image like the ones from night vision goggles. This plug-in can be apply other TV like effects, you can make images look like they are from a black & white security camera or CCTV system. It’s also possible to make them look like infra-red photos. Or you can just use the interlace to make an image look like a TV picture. You can even use it to enhance real night images. With the effects you can enhance dark areas. You can add TV ghosting, the “echo” you see when you use bad cables.

This plug-in is gather all setting for TV like effect. There is a interlace, which has anti-alias. You can also set overlay color as you like, this useful for artistic image. And also function to save you setting.

But there are some cons too. I found that after I play with it for a while I cann’t find the way to reset setting to its default, although for the same result you might have different setting for each image. To reset the setting you have to quit photoshop and reinstall plug-in. That is really fast and easy, only one stop that ask you to select installed application that you want to use NightVision plug-in with. And it’s will be better if its include some preset like there another cool plug-in, Camouflage.

So this is not one click plug-in. You might have to re-adjust the plug-in setting for each image, it’s depend on there brightness, size and sharpness, especially the setting of Enhance (which control brightness), raster intens., scale and width. You may need to turn feed back off in some image that lack of sharpness. And again this plug-in is for Windows user only.
