Filter Forge - Free Metal Texture Photoshop Plug-ins

Filter-Forge is photoshop plugin pack of filters that generate seemless textures and visual effects. More over there are allow you to create your own filter. Filterforge.com, the developer of this cool plugin, has announced a new series of seven free Photoshop plug-ins that it will release over the coming year. Each plug-in in the Filter Forge Freepacks series will generate seamlessly tiled textures that follow a specific aesthetic theme. The company has already released the first in the series, Freepack 1 — Metals. It includes seven filters that create photorealistic metal textures and effects.

The seven filters that make up the Metals Freepack are

• Alien Metal: Which produces an "alien-looking metallic surface".
• Brushed Metal: Generates a brushed-aluminum texture.
• Foil: Which replicates the texture of crumpled aluminum foil.
• Diamond Plate: Creates the texture of an industrial diamond-plate floor
• Metal Panels: Generates a metal-plating texture
• Metalizer: Produces a smooth metallic surface based on the brightness of the source image
• Rust: Renders patches of corrosion over dark areas of the source image.

This first Freepack plugin also include demo version of plugin editor that allow you to play with each setting to create your own unique texture plugin.

Freepack plug-ins will be available for download from Filter Forge’s Web site download section. The Metals Freepack is available for Windows only, but Filter Forge says that it is developing Mac OS X versions of the Freepacks for future release.
